PRZEGLĄD ODLEWNICTWA 1-2/2026

Dear Readers,

With the first issue of Przegląd Odlewnictwa, we enter the next twelve months full of challenges, but also opportunities for the foundry industry – in Poland and worldwide. The beginning of the year is a good time for summaries and reflection, but also for setting directions for development, which take on particular importance in a dynamically changing economic environment.

The year 2026 begins in a reality still shaped by the global economic downturn, cost pressures, the energy transition and the accelerated digitalisation of industry. The global foundry industry, despite the changing economic situation in the automotive and construction sectors, remains a vital link in the supply chain – especially where material innovation, process efficiency and sustainability matter.  In Poland, the foundry industry is demonstrating resilience and flexibility, and the growing importance of investment in modern technology, automation and staff competence allow a moderately optimistic view of the future.

The publications in this issue reflect well the diversity of topics and perspectives that shape the foundry community today.

We present a report on the 1st edition of the “The FemPower in Metalcasting – Passion and Success” competition which showed the important role women play in business, science and the development of the younger generation of engineers. It is complemented by an interview “The way of female leaders – how passion leads to success” in which the winners of the competition share their experiences and insights into the presence of women in the industry.

The issue also includes a comprehensive summary of the international conference “Foundry industry of tomorrow – sustainable development, innovations, digital future” organised as part of the Polish Foundryman’s Day 2025 – an event that is increasingly making its presence felt on the map of global industry meetings and local celebrations organised by STOP Branches to mark the occasion.

The practical dimension of modern casting is brought into focus by the article “TEKSID Iron Poland chooses Koyama: a success story based on reliability and performance” showing the importance of proven technological solutions in the day-to-day operations of the plants.

Enthusiasts of the history of technology will be interested in the first part of Marek Skowron’s study “Gate bumpers from Polish iron foundries in the 19th and early 20th centuries”.

A glimpse into the future and global trends is offered by a report on the EUROGUSS 2026 Trade Fair – Die casting as a driving force for modern industry during which the Association promoted the Polish foundry industry.

The issue closes with a summary of the Jubilee Year of Federation of Engineering Associations (FSNT–NOT) recalling the importance of the engineering and scientific communities in the development of Polish industry.

In addition, we present further companies that have joined as Supporting Members of the Association.

On the threshold of a new year, we wish you prosperity, stability and the courage to take on new challenges.

Magdalena Baryła – Vice Editor-in-Chief
