The summer is over, and with it, nagging hot weather, not only bothering agriculture but also the foundry industry and its’ workers.

Drought that hit agriculture has caused a rise in prices for vegetables and fruit and some crops, and this has also shifted to an increase in prices of many industrial products. The drought also reminded the country of the importance of water management and the related needs for serious treatment of water, its’ consumption savings and  investing in its’ preservation.

At the same time, autumn brought the symptoms of a decrease in demand for castings, felt by the foundry industry, caused by reduced production in the automotive and machine industries.

The problems related to the increase in electricity and gas prices, lack of workforce and unstable prices of raw and ready to use materials have not been resolved.

All these issues pose a lot of questions, which are currently lacking both solutions and forecasts, which would allow for preparing a realistic commencement of production planning for the upcoming 2020.

However, we hope that the last two months of the year will clarify the questions ahead of the forecasters and allow for preparation of information that can become the basis for the production plans in the industry. Already now, against this pessimistic background, there is very optimistic information from Polish Prime Minister Mr. Morawiecki, who announced that the council of ministers adopted the preliminary draft budget for 2020 without the traditional „budget hole”.

With this hope, our Association is preparing the XXXIV General Delegates’ Congress and another Polish Foundrymen’s Day, combined with the Conference: „Key to Success in Foundry: Automation, Digitization, Saving Materials and Energy”, on which we will also summarize the next period of activity.
